Traits

✦ Flight Capable Wings (Exclusive)

Category: Mutations
Species: Luminarian (Avian subtype)

Flight capable wings. The wings can traditionally be feathered only, but the style can change based on hybridization between subtypes:

Drake Hybrid: Dragon/Bat wings
Aquatic Hybrid: Manta wings
???: ???
Seraphic Hybrid: Butterfly wings
Cyber Hybrid: Mechanical wings
Undead Hybrid: Bone wings

✦ Dire

✦ Dire (Special)

Category: Mutations

Description

A trait that originated from the Drake subtype, a Pokemon of Dire size can be up to 50% larger than what is standard of their species. For example, a Riolu's Pokedex height is 2' 04", or 28 inches. 50% of 28 is 14, so a Dire-sized Riolu could be up to 28 + 14 = 42 inches, or 3' 06"!

Additional Information

  • For the metric system crew: a Riolu's Pokedex height is roughly 71cm. 50% of 71 is 35.5, so a Dire-sized Riolu could be up to 71 + 35.5 = 106.5cm, or 1.01m!
  • Don't worry too much about decimals and rounding - what counts is the whole number being close enough to the result.
  • Non-Luminarians cannot be dire!

Additional Information

  • For the metric system crew: a Riolu's Pokedex height is roughly 71cm. 50% of 71 is 35.5, so a Dwarf-sized Riolu could as small as 35.5cm!
  • Don't worry too much about decimals and rounding - what counts is the whole number being close enough to the result.

✦ Lustrous

✦ Lustrous (Special)

Category: Mutations
✨ Anomalous Variation AVAILABLE ✨

This trait has an Anomalous version, which means an alternative presentation of the same trait. The only way to obtain these specific variations is through the use of an Anomalous Potion, NOT through a voucher - so please keep this in mind when planning and submitting characters!

Lustrous adds a coat of luster to your character’s fur - literally! Imagine if a Pokemon rolled around in glitter and it never came off. In addition to the standard Luminarian glowing markings, your character’s body can now twinkle like stars in the night sky.

Standard Lustrous should only present as small, simple twinkles and pinpricks of light that remain bound to the character. Twinkles can go off the lines somewhat, but should still be clearly "attached" to their body. The color can be either white or gold but should be uniform throughout.

Standard

Anomalous Lustrous allows for the usage of larger and more defined shapes within the sparkles, including stars, complex twinkles, and constellations. Additionally, the sparkles are able to gently float off the character for a very brief distance before disappearing. The colors of the sparkles can be any mix or gradient of white, gold, or the glow color (or colors in the case of Iridescence).

Anomalous

Max Size!

Additional Information

  • Sparkles can be present over the entire body or limited to only specific markings/areas.
  • Standard Lustrous should only present as small, simple twinkles and pinpricks of light. As Anomalous, diamond or star-shaped sparkles should not be larger than roughly the size of a character’s eye. Thinner sparkles in both cases may be slightly bigger.
  • Pokemon with the Shiny coloration will always have Standard Lustrous by default. If you wish to remove this trait for any reason, simply request to drop the mutation when updating the design.
  • Your character can have both star/constellation markings in addition to Lustrous star-shaped/constellation sparkles, HOWEVER, make sure to not make it look as though the markings themselves are floating off of the character! This is a separate unique trait.

✦ Odd-Eyed

✦ Odd-Eyed (Exclusive)

Category: Mutations
Species: Luminarian (Wraith subtype)

This trait is still a WIP! Any information here is subject to change and/or is currently being developed.

🛈 This trait is exclusive to the Wraithian subtype!

Description

While Wraiths can form a nearly perfect disguise of any living creature, there is one attribute they can never fully hide: a small window into the core of their otherworldly, eldritch nature. The Odd-Eyed trait manifests as though part of the character's body is peeling away into complete blackness with a single point of light representing an "eye" floating in the center.

should not be segmented!

Additional Information

  • Formerly, this trait was known as Odd-Eyed and presented as one affected eye being mostly normal, but having black sclera and intricate markings surrounding it. Such a combination is no longer exclusive to Wraiths.
  • It can be placed anywhere on the body and take up to 50% of the character's design. It should be in one "piece" and not separated or segmented ("artifacts" surrounding the edges is fine, so long as they are small and are clearly part of the whole).
  • The size of the patch is directly related to the level of stability a Wraith has over its ability to maintain its form and, by correlation, remain in this realm.
  • The size and location should remain proportionally consistent across all forms the Wraith can take.
  • There can optionally be glitchy, goo-like artifacts that fade off the edges of the patch. For flavor purposes, the amount of such artifacts increase the larger the patch is and the less stable the Wraith becomes.
  • The center "eye" can be any color, but it should not change as this represents the very core of a Wraith's being (unless you're officially changing it via a Trait Voucher).
  • This trait does not have to be visibly shown on the Masterlist entry and can be optionally hidden by hair/fur, body parts, or accessories.

✦ Polarization (Rare)

Category: Mutations

🛈 This trait ONLY applies to Luminarian Glow color, not fur color.

Description

Polarization results in a Luminarian’s Glow color presenting as two distinct colors split evenly down the body, i.e. the left side of their body has blue glow markings and the right side has green glow markings.

Corrupted

Corrupted (Arcane)

Category: Mutations

Description

An attribute unique to those unfortunate souls who have come into direct contact with Husks or were stricken by Yveltal’s dark power. This condition, known as "Corruption," is very deadly; if left untreated, it spreads like a disease, consuming more and more of the victim’s body until they are claimed entirely and become a Husk themselves. While there are various ways to temporarily slow or stop the progression of the condition, including various plant-based remedies or powerful Pokemon abilities, Xerneas’s life-giving aura is the only thing that can cure it completely.

This trait presents as a shadowy flame that forever burns over part of your character like a living scar.

Additional Information

  • The shadows are primarily black with violet undertones and can cover a much as 70% of your character’s body. Glowing black and purple orbs can optionally drift off of the character like embers. Note that, however, these flames give off very minimal light, even in pure darkness.
  • It can completely cover a limb such as an ear or arm, but it cannot form a new shape and does not replace the limb entirely. This is a flame that covers the body, not substitutes it.
  • As to not be confused with the Wraith subtype, if the flame is covering an eye, there should be no visible eye underneath, not even a pinprick. Similarly, the trait should distinctly resemble flames, not any kind of goo or tar-like substance - as in, the direction of the trait should be going upwards like fire, never leaking or dripping like liquid.
  • The character should not look as though they are surrounded by an aura; this is limited to Pokemon with the Shadow-type trait.
  • If your character has this trait, then there MUST be some kind of lore/backstory reason that they obtained it, and it MUST be through one of the following ways:
    • being attacked or having direct contact with a Husk (the lifeless, zombie-like creatures that primarily roam Oblivia)
    • having an encounter with Yveltal's herald or Yveltal himself in which Oblivion Wing was used on your character.
      • If choosing this option, speak with Staarbytes (@vesperial on discord) about your ideas first!
