✧ Introduction to QuestING ✧
If you've come here not knowing exactly what a questline is, what their purpose is, or what you're expected to do for them, then not to worry! That's what this page is here for. To put it simply, questlines are similar to prompt submissions in their overall concept, but whereas general prompts are [typically] single part submissions, questlines, on the other hand, are multi-part submissions. As a result, they require a bit more time and effort than your typical prompt submission - but the wards are much better and far more beneficial to both users and their characters! Said rewards typically involve items, perks, traits, and other character oriented benefits that you can't get anywhere else or through any other means aside from special events, raffles, and sales.

➤ participating in questlines
Participating in questlines is very similar to participating in prompts - even moreso when it comes to Festival prompts. If you've participated in a Festival prompt already, you'll more than likely have a better understanding of how questlines are handled versus someone who hasn't. This section, however, breaks everything down from general questline information, specific guidelines, and the overall submission process. So even if you don't have any experience submitting multi-part prompts - or any prompts in general - this section of the page will pretty much walk you through it.

➤ Questline basics
Starting things off with the basics, as you'll see once you start looking through the questlines, each one has an array of specifics tied to it. These specifics breakdown each respective questline's overall statistics from where you go to submit them, the difficulty of the questline, and any other relevant information that determines how, specifically, a user will need to go about their submission. These specifics are broken down in detail below:
➤ Prompt
Although the information for questlines is outlined on this page, each questline has an associated prompt that can be found on the prompt page! Users will use the prompt in order to submit their entries and ultimately get the base rewards for each objective completed. How, specifically this is done is outlined in a subsequent section on this page.
➤ Difficulty
All questlines have a difficulty level, which is determined by the max amount of submissions a user will need to make in order to complete the questline. As a general rule of thumb, the difficulty of a questline goes up for every 2 submissions required. So if the questline is only difficulty level 1, then the max amount of submissions a user will be expected to make to it is 2. Alternatively, since difficulty is determined in sets of twos, if a questline requires 3 submissions, it will still be listed as difficulty level 2.
➤ Prerequisite
Generally speaking, questlines do not have any prerequisites, but there are a few questlines we have planned a bit further down the line that will require (or at the very least, recommend) that certain conditions be met before participating in the questline. Examples of what might be considered a prerequisite are things such as character level, evolutionary stage, and so on.
➤ Participation
Participation refers to the amount of times a user can participate in a specific questline with a specific character. Users typically won't see any limits on the amount of time a user themselves can participate in a questline, but restrictions may be placed on a character after said character has been used to participate in the questline. For example, a single character can only participate in Evolutionary Measures so long as they have attainable evolutionary stages. Once they reach their final evolutionary stage [or if they don't have any additional evolutionary stages at all] they can no longer be used to participate in that questline.
➤ Applicable Characters
Each questline will similarly have a list of character categories that can or cannot be used to participate. What this means is that while most questlines should be available to all character types, certain ones may be applicable to only Generation 1 characters or Generation 2 characters specifically. Additionally, there are questlines planned specifically for Companions.
➤ Reward(s)
The rewards listed in a specific questline's "rewards" field are the rewards a user will receive for completing the questline. These are non-inclusive of the rewards received for each individual submission made to the questline.

➤ Rules & Requirements
First and foremost, it's important to note that, unless stated otherwise for the purpose of a specific objective, questlines are not exempt from our general submission guidelines and should be treated the same way that all submissions on site are treated. That said, they do have additional requirements that are specific to questlines which are outlined below. And, once again, unless stated otherwise in a specific prompt's individual rules and guidelines, you can assume that these guidelines apply to all quests and questline submissions:
➤ General Rules & Requirements
- There are no deadlines for questline submissions.
- There isn't a limit to the amount of times a user can participate in a single questline.
- That said, there oftentimes is a limit to the amount of times a specific character can he used to participate in a single questline.
- Prompt repeat passes cannot be used to bypass these limits - nor can any other items.
- Entries for all questlines should be submitted to Questlines in the Glowchus on site gallery.
- Character eligibility is subject to the guidelines of each respective questline, meaning that users will need to check the prompt itself to see what characters they can use to participate.
- In order to qualify for questline rewards, objective submissions must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Illustrations should be flat-colored, half-body images of the participating character with a simple scene background.
- If the submission is a comic, at least one panel should meet the requirements listed above.
- Literature should include 800 words and the events of the prompt must be the focus of the piece.
- Illustrations should be flat-colored, half-body images of the participating character with a simple scene background.
- Users may include multiple objectives per submission as long as the requirements are met for each objective.
- To fully complete a questline, users must complete a submission for all required objectives or for the required number of objectives.
- Questlines can be treated as having occured in the past, but they cannot be treated as though occuring in the future.
- Unless stated otherwise, each specific questline's objectives do not need to be completed in order.
- Unless otherwise stated, users may repeat objectives - completed objectives do not have to be unique to qualify for the rewards of the questline.
- Once a user has completed a questline, they cannot go back to do any bonus objectives.
- With the exception of collaborative questlines, users can commission questline submissions - they do not need to be done by the user submitting them.
- Characters featured in questlines should be registered characters only.

➤ Submission Process
Participating in questlines is a multi-step process and it may seem daunting to those of you who are just getting started, but don't worry! It's not complicated at all once you understand what you're doing and members of the Glowchus administrative team are always happy to help. The entire process is outlined fully below, but if you find yourself needing any additional help or just not quite understanding something in particular, don't be afraid to ask for help.
➤ Step 1: The Gallery Submission
In order for a questline submission to be considered valid, it must be submitted to the Glowchus on site gallery [to the Questlines gallery specifically] - there are no exceptions to this rule. Unless you're including each individual objective in one singular submission, you should make one gallery submission per a specific prompt's required objective count. What that means is basically if you need to complete two objectives in order to fully complete the questline, you should either have two separate questline submissions relevant to those objectives in the gallery, or one singular submission that meets the requirements of both objectives on its own [such as a comic, animation, or other sequence style submission].
➤ Step 2: The Prompt Submission
After submitting your objective piece[s] to the gallery, you will need to submit them to the appropriate prompt. Let's say you were participating in Evolutionary Measures. That questline requires a minimum of two objectives completed for overall completion. Once you've submitted those pieces to the gallery, you will need to also submit them both to the questline prompt [in the case of Evolutionary Measures, this prompt would be [QL-001] Evolutionary Measures]. If you have completed multiple objectives through multiple submissions, you need to submit all of those submissions to the prompt. If you have completed multiple objectives in a single prompt, you will need to submit the singular submission to the prompt multiple times - once for every objective completed. So if your singular submission fufills the requirements for three separate objectives, you will submit that singular piece three times to the required prompt.
➤ Step 3: The Claim Submission
Once you have completed a submission for each of a questline's required number of objectives, you will have successfully completed the questline! In order to receive your completion rewards, you will need to submit a claim titled "Completed Questline" and fill out the following form [which can also be found on the site forms page] in the comments:
- Questline: The title of the questline [ex. "[QL-001] Evolutionary Measures"]
- Submission(s): A link to ALL submissions required for the completion of the questline.
- Rewards: A breakdown of all the rewards you expect to receive from completing the questline.
Once your claim has been approved, that's it! You're done! You've successfully completed a questline and all your rewards should be distributed to you through the claim or manually by a member of the Glowchus administrative team [if administrative involvement is required].
A more in depth tutorial should be available on the Site Tutorials page shortly!
