General

Q: What are Glowchus?
Glowchus are members of the 'chu line with bioluminescent markings. More information will be available in the future when we get the respective subject pages officially set up!

Q: What are Luminarians?
"Luminarian" is the official name for any Pokemon that glows, 'chu line or otherwise!

Q: What do you do in this community?
A: Functioning primarily as an ARPG, the main focus is to, well... progress through the storyline and develop your characters through art-based RP! You can participate in events, upgrade your characters, and roleplay or otherwise interact with others!

Q: What is an ARPG?
Art Role Playing Games, or "ARPGs" are a style of game developed on and for deviantART. They are some mixture of MMO, breeding sim, and forum game, with the unique mechanic that in order to progress in the game, you must make or otherwise accumulate art of the creatures you own.

Q: Is this an open community?
A: Yes! Glowchus is now an open community. We never host openings and registration is open to new members at all times.

Q: What is the community's rating?
A: The Glowchus website maintains a PG-13 rating. Anything posted, shared, or otherwise discussed specifically on site should not exceed this rating. The Discord, however, has a somewhat higher rating of PG-16, and regardless of whether or not you are a member of the Glowchus community in general, you will not be permitted to take part in any of the Discord aspects unless you are 16+.

Q: Do I have to join the community to create/own a Glowchu?
A: Nope! You don't. Joining the group and registering your Glowchu simply gives you the opportunity to do more with your characters, post art of them here, and participate in group activities.

Q: Do I have to pay to make/register a Glowchu?
A: No, Glowchus are entirely free to make - however, only official (paid) Glowchus can be registered on site and therefore be used in ARPG activities.

Q: Do I have to pay to get cool traits for my registered Glowchus?
A: You don't! With only one exception, everything for your characters is [or will be in the future, if it's not presently] completely attainable in game through events, crafting, and more!

Q: If I don't have to pay to make a Glowchu, then why is there the option?
A: We provide the paid option for Official Glowchu slots because Unofficial glowchus cannot be used to participate in the arpg. Buying official Glowchus from the founders or guest artists is likewise a great way for members of the community to show their support, which in turn allows us keep providing you guys with great content and fun activities to enjoy! <3

Q: How do I get a Glowchu?
A: Everyone who joins the community gets one common starter Glowchu for free, but there are dozens of other means by which you can acquire additional Glowchus for yourself. The first, and most obvious option is simply to create one yourself! But if that doesn't interest you, you may be able to find some Glowchus up for trade or sale by group members who no longer want them and if not, the group also offers occasional design flatsales, auctions, etc. from which you'll be able to purchase official designs from the founders or approved guest designers via cash, points, or Radiance (our group currency). Sometimes you'll even find generous members of the community more than willing to design you a Glowchu for free!

Q: How many Glowchus can I make?
A: There is no limit to the amount of Glowchus you can create/own.

Q: What is the difference between an Unofficial Glowchu and an Official one?
A: Official is the term we use to refer to Glowchus that were registered in the masterlist via "official" means. This includes Glowchus from official group related raffles, dtas, guest designs, etc and likewise Glowchus that were formerly a part of RH/RS before closing. Unofficial Glowchus are Glowchus that were obtained via "unofficial" means, i.e. through free myos, member adopt batches, etc. and are not presently registered on site. Only Official Glowchus can be used to participate in the ARPG.

Q: Can I sell Glowchus I don't want anymore?
A: Yes! You are free to sell any Glowchus you design or presently own at your discretion.

Q: Can an Unofficial Glowchu be registered as Official?
A: Yes! They sure can. If you have an unofficial Glowchu that you'd like to register as official, you must purchase and apply a voucher to the specified character. Vouchers vary in price based on rarity and can be purchased from the shop via the use of Radiance (the group's currency), deviantart points, or USD.

Q: Can I make Glowchu adopt batches?
A: You sure can! Just keep in mind that they won't be considered official in this case.

Q: Can I commission someone to design a Glowchu for me?
A: Yep! Again, as long as you keep in mind that the resulting design won't be official.

Q: Can I make my own world for my Glowchu characters?
A: You sure can! The group's story is just the "official" story of how the Glowchus originated and what the world they live in now is like. If you want to create your own world for your Glowchu characters with your own rules and story, that's perfectly fine!

Q: Can I make a comic/write a story about Glowchus?
A: Of course!

Submissions & Participation

Q: Can I participate without a Glowchu of my own?
A: There are some prompts that users can participate in without a character of their own, but for the most part, the ARPG was intended for people with their own characters.

Q: Can I use Commisisons, Collabs, Gifts, Trades, etc. for prompt submissions?
A: Yes [in most cases], to all of these things! More information on that can be found on the Submission Guidelines page.

Questlines

Q: What are questlines?
A: Questlines are character development related activities that you can participate in in order to receive rewards that you would ordinarily have to pay for or might not otherwise be obtainable. You can learn more about questlines on our dedicated page here!

Q: Are questlines mandatory?
A: Absolutely not! Just like participation in any prompt, you only participate if you want to! Nothing is required.

Q: Do I have to finish a questline to receive the rewards?
A: You will receive some base rewards (radiance, exp, sometimes items) for simply making a questline submission in general. However, you will not receive the overall questline rewards if you do not fully complete the questline.

Q: How do I submit my questline entries?
A: Questlines are submitted the same way as any other prompt. We have in depth tutorials on that exact topic here!

Q: Can I include every objective for one questline in a single submission?
A: As long as your submission meets the requirements for every objective in the questline, you are more than welcome to submit it as a single piece.

Q: Can I complete a questline for two characters at once?
A: While we may allow this in the future or for specific questlines, as a general rule of thumb, only one character may be used per questline.

Q: Can I collab with a friend on my questline?
A: You can collaborate on questlines, yes, but unless collaboration is the objective of the questline, the questline will be valid for only a single character.

Q: Can I commission someone to do my questline for me?
A: Absolutely! You are not required to do your questline submissions yourself.

Q: Can I reuse/repurpose another submission for the sake of my questline?
A: While we do allow this for certain events/prompts/etc., it is not allowed for questlines.

Q: Do I need to draw my character at their current evolutionary stage in my questline?
A: Questlines can be treated as having occured in the present (at your character's present stage/age) or in the past (at a previous stage/age). They cannot, however, be treated as occuring in the future if in said future your character is at an evolutionary stage they have not yet reached.
