Prompt: [QL-001] Evolutionary Measures

Reward: Character evolution (bypasses requirements)

[ INTRODUCTION ]

Evolution is a very important part of most Pokemon’s lives. For some, it can be scary- for others: exciting, something they’ve always wanted. For many, it’s simply an expectation, something that naturally happens as they grow up. Pokemon evolve through all different types of ways, each of which requires a varying amount of effort and planning. Regardless of how it happens, it is often a major event in any young - or old - Pokemon’s life and should be properly prepared for!

[ OBJECTIVES ]

This quest requires users to complete at least two submissions. For each submission, you may choose one objective from the list below. No objectives should be repeated for a single evolution but can be repeated for a subsequent evolution quest (i.e. if you picked #1 and #3 for a Pichu to evolve into a Pikachu, you can use the same two objectives to evolve the same Pikachu into a Raichu, but they must be clearly different depictions– don’t use the same exact setting/poses/characters/etc!). If you are completing the questline for the sake of mega evolution, three objectives are required. Additionally, Objective 6 is a bonus objective and can be completed as a third submission (or fourth for mega evolution) for a large boost in radiance and experience, but otherwise the bonus objective is not required [note that objective 6 specifically cannot be used as one of the two submissions needed to complete the questline, it's a bonus objective only].

Objective 1
Spending time with other Pokemon of the same evolution line can help aid an individual’s evolution journey. Pokemon who evolve with significant biological changes, into new types, or who require learning a specific move for evolution can learn from older (or teach younger!) ones. They can also simply provide comfort and encouragement to a younger ‘mon seeking to evolve. Depict your character doing something related to their species with another Pokemon of the same evolutionary line! This can be their parents, siblings, other relatives, friends– even enemies or rivals, or just a stranger they happened to cross paths with. They can be training together, showing off a new move (like a Charizard doing aerial tricks for a Charmander), or doing something else species-related (like swimming for aquatic Pokemon, climbing trees for jungle natives, etc), or anything else that makes sense to do in their nature.

For baby/basic stage characters: You must include another Pokemon at least one evolution stage higher than your character’s. (Ex: If your character is a Pichu, you may include other Pichu, but there must be at least one Pikachu or Raichu present.)
For middle stage: You may include either a lower or higher stage than your character. (Ex: If your character is a Pikachu, you can include either a Pichu or Raichu.)
For split evolutions: You may include a Pokemon of a branched evolutionary line than the one your character is or is aiming to become. (Ex: If your character is a Gloom, you may include either Vileplume or Bellossom.)

Objective 2
Evolution can be scary, especially for Pokemon that undergo significant bodily changes, like sprouting wings or even a new pair of arms! Is your character afraid to evolve because they’re scared to have their body change so drastically? Or are they worried that others might see or treat them differently than they did before because of it? Or maybe they’re just scared in general of how it’ll feel or worried they’ll regret it and won’t ever be able to change back. If any of these apply to your character, how do they go about conquering or managing this fear? Do they find comfort in talking with someone else who has gone through it, or do they just have to spend time on their own and let the worry take its natural course before moving forward?

Objective 3
Most Pokemon evolve according to the conditions required of their species. For many, this happens naturally with age, often coming into their final stage during adulthood. For others, they get to choose exactly when they evolve, such as in the case of evolutionary stones or items. Some even evolve involuntarily in response to love and friendship. And then there are those few who evolve under extreme physical or emotional duress, pushed to a point for which they might not yet be ready. What does Fate have in store for your character? For those who evolve via stone or item, how did they acquire it, and how did they want it to happen? At home, in the comfort of their bed? Or does their culture have some kind of coming-of-age ceremony where they are to evolve in front of an audience? For those who evolve based on friendship and affection, for whom did these strong feelings grow and when/how did they manifest into evolution? For others, what did the exact moment of evolution look like; was it during an intense battle to protect a loved one? Or was it during a particularly tragic event that might have occurred in their life?

➤ Any Pokemon may evolve during a “moment of severe physical, mental, or emotional distress” because it’s cooler that way. Otherwise, your character must evolve according to their own species conditions:
➤ Pokemon who evolve via level-up can be depicted evolving once they reach a certain age or accomplish a feat that’s important to them.
➤ Pokemon who evolve via learning a move must be depicted as using that move in this objective.
➤ Pokemon who evolve via affection or friendship must be shown wither either the object of their friendship/affection (family, a lover/partner, a friend, etc) or with them clearly depicted as thinking about/referring to them (such as a thought/dream bubble).
➤ Pokemon who evolve via evolutionary stone or item must be shown with that item [note that the item DOES NOT have to be in your inventory or attached to the submission].

Objective 4
Some Pokemon might have a definitive moment in their past that made them really excited for evolution. Was there an instance in your character’s childhood where they vowed to one day evolve, no matter the cost? Were they witness to an incredible display of awe and strength from a Pokemon of their final evolutionary stage and decide they wanted to be just like them? Did something happen to make your character decide to take a specific evolutionary path, such as an Eevee wanting to become a Vaporeon, or a Charcadet becoming an Armarouge over Ceruledge? Alternatively… did en event occur to make your character not want to evolve? Clearly they eventually overcome their misgivings, but facing a moment in which they were perhaps once determined to never evolve is crucial in altering their future.

Objective 5
Though evolution is a natural thing in most Pokemon’s life, it can still take a fair amount of preparation. Simply depict your character working their way towards evolving! This can be any form of training, searching for or creating a necessary item, going on a quest to find themselves, trying to learn an evolution-required move, doing research on their evolutions or method for evolving, etc.

Objective 6 ★ BONUS ★
Evolution achieved! Whether it was a walk in the park or a arduous journey, your character has finally done it, and it's milestone in their life worth celebrating! What does your character look like? How have they changed? Perhaps most importantly, how do they feel? Are they pleased with the change? Do they regret it? How are they adapting to life in their new form? What is the first thing they do with their newfound power?

Tome QUESTLINE ::

          [ ENGAGing ENDEAVORS ]

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Prompt: [QL-002] Engaging Endeavors
Difficulty: ★ ★ ☆ ☆ ☆
Prerequisites: None
Participation: Once per character
Applicable Characters: Main Characters (any Generation)
Reward: "Soulmates" or "Best Friends" perk

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

[ INTRODUCTION ]

Some say soulmates are bound by the stars, their spirits entwined for eternity long before their birth. Others say love is a choice, one that two individuals must make time and time again. Regardless of what one believes a “soulmate” is, most eventually find a partner - romantic or platonic - without which they couldn’t imagine their lives. The concept of soulmates and marriage is as sacred to the world as it ever was, and should only be undertaken by two (or more) individuals who have come to truly understand what it means to be a single part of a larger whole.

This questline can only be done as a collaboration with another user. If your character is in a poly relationship, the owners of all characters involved must partake in the collaboration. The only exception to this rule is if you own all the characters in the pairing yourself, then you are not required to do the questline as a collaboration.

[ OBJECTIVES ]

This prompt was designed specifically for users who want the "Soulmates" perk for their paired characters. It can be done, however, from a platonic perspective if you would like the "Best Friends" perk for unpaired characters instead. Unlike most questlines, all three objectives must be completed - and must be completed in order - to fully complete the questline. For users aiming for the "Best Friends" perk specifically, only objectives 1 and 2 are required. The bonus objectives are for paired characters only and will grant an additional bit of radiance, experience, and perks, but are otherwise not required. They also cannot be used in place of objectives 1-3 - objectives 1-3 are all required.

Objective 1
A bond between two souls lasts an eternity- but it had to start somewhere! How did your character first meet the one to whom they wish to be bound for life? Have they always known each other from childhood? Did their paths cross briefly in passing, only to come together again years down the line? Were they rivals, perhaps, finding love during an unexpected journey or through shared experiences? Maybe it was love at first sight and the two have been inseparable ever since. Show the moment your character first met (or first came to know of) their partner!

Objective 2
Surely two individuals who commit their lives to one another have been through situations with both highs and lows. Show a defining moment in your character’s relationship: was there a situation that your character knew, with their entire being, that this was their soulmate – whether it was a dramatic life-or-death event or simply sharing a smile over breakfast one random morning? Or was there a time where their partnership seemed like it wasn’t as strong as they once thought and they had to find a way through it together?

Objective 3
Now that your characters know they’re destined to be with one another, what are their plans from here on out? Do they want to find a nice home together somewhere quiet, settle down, start their family? Or do they want to travel the world side by side, always looking for the next adventure? Maybe they have a more… non-conventional arrangement that only they understand, one that might look strange to anyone else. Show a moment from your character’s future with their partner!

Objective 4 ★ BONUS ★
Many people in love fantasize about what their wedding would be like, so what was your character's wedding like? Was it a big wedding with friends and family? Or simply a small ceremony with them and their partner?

Objective 5 ★ BONUS ★
The ultimate commitment in any relationship is the decision to start a family. While some may know from the getgo that parenthood just isn't in the cards for them, others wait their whole lives for the special moment when they're finally able to bring a child into the world. If your character is looking forward to that day themselves, depict what that day might look like for them.

[ REWARDS ]

The rewards outlined below are the rewards you will receive for completing the questline! They are not inclusive of the general rewards you will receive for each objective completed:

  • Base Rewards
    • 25 Radiance [per completed objective]
    • 100 Experience for the participating characters [per completed objective]
    • The "Best Friends" perk [for completing objectives 1 and 2]
    • The "Soulmates" perk [for completing objectives 1, 2, and 3]
      • Note that you will not receive both the "Soulmates" and the "Best Friends" perks. It's one or the other, not both.
  • Bonus Rewards
    • 50 Radiance [for completing objective 4/5]
    • 200 Experience [for completing objective 4/5]
    • The "Newlyweds" Perk [for completing objective 4]
    • The "Family Oriented" Perk [for completing objective 4 and 5]

Tome QUESTLINE ::

          [ cREATURE KEEPers ]

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Prompt: [QL-003] Creature Keepers
Difficulty: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
Prerequisites: None
Participation: Once per character per pet
Applicable Characters: G2 Main Characters
Reward(s): Primodial Beast pet of a user-determined class and species

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

[ INTRODUCTION ]

The existence of the creatures that have come to be known as Primordial Beasts has been a point of contention between the dominant Pokemon species of the world for as long as anyone can remember. Most consider them a nuisance - and for good reason. While the largest population of beasts tend to be on the smaller side and are typically nothing more than common pets, in rare cases, these creatures can grow to the size of mountains and can level entire cities with an unintentional swipe of the tail. That said, it's not hard to understand why most parents prefer to dissuade their children from coming home with stray beasts - and why the government simultaneously works overtime to ensure that anyone who has one is fully capable of handling it [and ensuring that they're not creating an army of beasts to overthrow civilization in the process].

Despite their bad reputation, beasts often make incredibly devoted companions to those willing to put in the effort required to raise them. In fact, Primordial Beasts, especially of higher classes, are famously loyal toward their handlers and have been known to go so far as to give their lives in service of an owner who has earned the beast's total trust and respect. It is for this reason that, again, despite their bad reputation, some Pokemon will go to great lengths to acquire a Primordial Beast of their own. And most of the time, their efforts are well rewarded.

[ OBJECTIVES ]

This questline is unique in its approach to how the rewards are handled. While users are not required to do the objectives in order, nor are they necessarily required to complete all ten objectives, objectives nevertheless work as a sort of point system where each objective is considered 1 "point" and a certain number of points need to be achieved in order to obtain the desired companion. The amount of "points" required for a specific species/class of companion are outlined below:

  • 1 point = Common/Class 0
  • 2 points = Uncommon/Class1
  • 3 points = Rare/Class 2
  • 4 points = Special/Class 3
  • 5 points = Exotic/Class 4

Let's say, for example, a user was aiming for a Special, Class 2 companion. The total number of objectives they would need to complete in order to claim the desired pet is 7 - 4 objectives for the rarity, and three objectives for the class. On the other hand, however, a Common, Class 4 pet would require 6  objectives completed - 1 for the rarity and 5 for the class. In this case, however, the user would be required to complete Objective 1 as part of their 6 total objectives, as Objective 1 is required  to claim a class 4 companion.

This questline is meant to be treated as though the character in question already has the desired pet - for that reason, even if you don't presently own that pet, you are still able to include it in your submissions for this questline. If you'd prefer to treat it as though your character doesn't yet own the pet in question, you're free to finagle the objectives a bit to suit your own purposes as long as they're still relevant to the overall questline. If you're aiming for a Class 4 primordial beast, no matter what rarity, Objective 1 must always be included in the list of completed objectives. If you're aiming for the "Soulbound" perk, the amount of objectives necessary for completing the questline will be the base requirement +2 and should include both Objective 1 and 10. For example, let's say you're aiming for a Common, Class 0 pet. You'll need to complete 2 objectives for the companion, and 2 more for the perk. Of the 4 objectives completed, both objective 1 and objective 10 should be included. The two additional objectives needed for the Soulbound perk do count as bonus objectives, however. So you will receive the increased rate of radiance/exp for them.

Objective 1 REQUIRED FOR CLASS 4 REQUIRED FOR SOULBOUND
Anyone who knows anything about Primordial Beasts knows that the easiest way to tame one is to hatch it straight from the egg. It's not impossible otherwise, but it can spare any fledgling pet owner a lot of unnecessary trouble. Baby Primordial Beasts imprint on the first thing they see, making the uncertainty - not to mention risks - of earning an older beast's trust completely unnecessary. This is why it is absolutely imperative that anyone aspiring to acquire themselves a Class 4 beast obtain their future charge as an egg. As far as the Class 4 beasts go, unless the youngster inside emerges into the world wholly convinced the first thing it sees is it's parental figure, the chances of forming a successful bond are entirely nonexistent. If your character received their future companion as an egg, depict how they happened to come into possession of such a special find. Was it a gift from a friend? Did they buy it off a stranger in a dark city alley? If they were especially bold, maybe they could have even stolen it directly from the nest during a moment of parental inattentiveness.

Objective 2
It can be said that some of the most memorable days of one's life are are the days when they met someone that ultimately changes everything for the better... or sometimes even for the worse. The same can be said for the day one meets a new pet for the first time. While generally an exciting moment in anyone's life, it probably goes without saying that things in that regard don't always play out as expected. Whether it was a positive experience or a negative one, depict the very first encounter between your character and their companion.

Objective 3
One of the most important aspects of facilitating a strong bond between character and companion is the amount of quality time spent together. After all, one can't expect their pet to enjoy their company if they never do anything fun or enjoyable together, can they? Depict your character spending some quality time with their companion. This can be anything from playing together, taking a nap together, or just plain enjoying each other's company.

Objective 4
They fastest way to a Primordial Beast's heart is to it's stomach - at least... that's what they say anyway. Primordial Beasts are notoriously picky eaters. Even when you know their general diet, finding the specific foods they'll eat can be an endeavor in and of itself. Your character's companion may be an herbivore, but not all beasts are content to eat just leaves. Beasts have preferences, too. And now, it's up to your character to figure out the preferences of their new companion. Depict the lengths to which your character goes to acquire a meal for their Primordial Beast companion. This can be something as simple as preparing a meal themselves, going out into the wilderness to find fresh food, or simply buying anything they need from the store. If your character has a particularly picky eater on their hands, it couldn't hurt to spend some time learning about the species' native diet from books in the library or even someone who owns a beast of the same species.

Objective 5
Cleanliness is just as important to Primordial Beasts as it is to their more sentient counterpart - in most cases anyway. While you'll always find that there are exceptions to typical standards, it's safe to say that most beasts, at the very least, prefer to be kept clean, especially when it comes to their nesting areas. Getting a beast to comply to the standards of what one considers "clean," however, is a task in and of itself. Depict your character keeping up with their beast's grooming. Just giving a particularly dirty companion a much needed bath, while arduous in nature, is a step in the right direction.

Objective 6
If your character happens to be having a particularly difficult time accommodating their new companion's needs, perhaps some research is in order? A lot can be learned from simply observing one's own pet's behaviors. Depict your character researching more about the species of Primordial Beast they now own. From reading books in the library, observing the creatures in the wild, or even seeking out the advise of someone who owns a beast of the same or similar species, there's no limit to the amount of ways one can go about this.

Objective 7
While most Primordial Beasts will be content to enjoy typical pet behavior with their owners [such as going on walks, playing games, or just plain spending time together], prospective beast owners may eventually find that the preferred bonding method of certain beasts involves the thrill of battle - traditional Pokemon battle style. Depict your character engaging in some friendly Primordial Beast competition with another character and their companion. Alternatively, you can always face off against wild beasts if preferred.

Objective 8
The key to good Primordial Beast behavior is consistency and positive reinforcement when it comes to training. A poorly trained beast can be a menace, not just to society, but to their owner as well. Depict a good old fashioned training session between your character and their primordial beast. Is their companion a quick learner and eager to please? Or are they stubborn and seem like they take pleasure in doing the exact opposite of what your character asks?

Objective 9
Anyone who has any experience with a pet will tell you that it's not all fun and games. From indoor accidents and destroyed furniture, to torn clothes and the consuming of things that ought not be consumed, Primordial Beasts are just naturally prone to getting into all sorts of mischief. Depict your character dealing with the aftermath of their pet's mischief or curiosity.

Objective 10 REQUIRED FOR SOULBOUND
Did your character and their trusted companion ever encounter a particularly difficult situation together? Did they barely escape a dire situation with their lives? Did they get lost in the wilderness with only each other to watch their backs? In most cases, the strongest of bonds between character and companion are built upon a foundation of trust. And nothing builds trust quite like helping each other through harrows and hardships.

[ rewards ]

The rewards outlined below are the rewards you will receive for completing the questline! They are not inclusive of the general rewards you will receive for each objective completed:

  • Base Rewards
    • 25 Radiance [per completed objective]
    • 100 Experience for the participating character [per completed objective]
    • A Primordial Beast of companion of user determined species with...
      • The "Bonded" Perk
      • 3% Affection [per completed objective]
      • 300 EXP [per completed objective]
  • Bonus Rewards
    • 50 Radiance [per completed bonus objective]
    • 200 Experience for the participating character [per completed bonus objective]
    • The "Soulbound" perk [for completing both Objectives 1 and 10 on top of the base objective requirements]
      • Note that objectives 1 and 10 must be counted separately from the base requirements. Meaning that anyone aiming for the "Soulbound" perk for their character/companion will always need to complete the base amount of objectives for their desired companion, +2.

Tome QUESTLINE ::

          [ A lEGENDARY's FAVOR ]

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Prompt: [QL-007] A Legendary's Favor
Difficulty: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
Prerequisites: None
Participation: Once per character
Applicable Characters: Generation II Main Characters
Reward: The "Legendary's Blessing" perk [for a chosen Legendary]

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

[ INTRODUCTION ]

Rumors have circulated for thousands of years of a select few individuals hand-picked to represent the will of what are commonly known as Legendary Pokemon. These rumored individuals have come to be known through the ages as proxies, given that they typically act on behalf and under the command of said Legendary Pokemon in order to accomplish certain goals - or simply to act as a mouthpiece when the Legendary in question isn't around to speack for themselves. With the disappearance of majority of the Legendaries from the world, proxies are one of the few connections that remain to Pokemon that are otherwise nothing more than myth at this point. Because of this, proxies are often impersonated for the oftentimes nefarious intents of others. For unlike heralds, there is no easy way to tell whether or not a specific proxy is the real deal. Once a proxy has earned the favor of their chosen Legendary, however, the Legendary in question typically grants the proxy a gift that serves as an emblem of sorts to indicate that they are, in fact the "real deal." In situations where proxy status is based on bloodline, these items are passed down generation after generation and are usually items that are commonly associated with the Legendary themselves [such as a Rainbow Wing in Ho-oh's case]. For what could serve as better proof than a gift from a god itself?

[ OBJECTIVES ]

The proxy questline is not super complex due to the fact that the only real benefit is the fact that your character can utilize any legendary exclusive moves and that they can, for story purposes, be considered a Proxy - which is essentially a character who acts on behalf of a legendary. Earning the Legendary's Favor perk will also increase the success rate of the Herald trials by 25%. While it's not inherently difficult, it can, however, be failed [hence the higher difficulty rating]. In order to complete the questline, all objectives must be completed and done so in order. Objective 3 is the only objective that can technically be failed. In the instance of a failed questline, the only objective you will need to redo is the objective marked as "can be failed." Then you can resubmit the questline with the previous objectives + the new piece for the failed objective and try again. Creative freedom is highly encouraged with this questline and user's are a little more free than usual to determine what they want to do for their submissions as long as the general concept is met for each one.

This questline is a little unique in that the final objective requires a physical offering, meaning that in addition to the submission, the participating user will also be required to attach the item that they're offering to their chosen legendary. The chances of the questline succeeding range from 10-50% depending on the item offered. The success rate of items is not publicly shared, however, we will say that the Divine Offering item can be used for a guaranteed 50% success rate [the success rate can't be higher than 50%].

Objective 1
Whatever the reason, your character has suddenly found themselves compelled to learn more about a certain legendary. Perhaps they found some old books that happend to park an interest or maybe they feel the pull of something far more spiritual in nature. Or even more likely still, perhaps this quality is simply a characteristic of their family's bloodline. Either way, their curiosity has been piqed and they will stop at nothing to find what they're looking for. Depict your character researching their chosen Legendary. Alternatively, they can be depicted as having a revelation of sorts where inight to their chosen Legendary is suddenly bestowed upon them out of nowhere. How peculiar!

Objective 2
Amidst their research [or revelation, if you prefer], your character happened upon a rather interesting bit of information about a shrine dedicated to their chosen legendary. Knowledge as to the exact whereabouts of this fabled shrine have proved unreliable thus far, but it seems your character has an inkling of where to go. Depict them on a pilgrimage to the shrine of their chosen legendary.

Objective 3 CAN BE FAILED

It was a long and arduous journey, but your character has done it! They've found the shrine! But what now? In days of old, it is said that Pokemon once made offerings to the Legendaries. Maybe your character should leave something of value at the shrine? Depict your character making an offering to the shrine of their chosen legendary [for this specific objective, not only must the character be depicted physically presenting the shrine with their offering, but the offering should ALSO be attached to the submission. For example, if your character is offering an Oran Berry, you must also attach an Oran Berry to the submission [refer to the information above in regards to the success rates of items used]].

➤ Note that the Legendary whose favor your character is trying to earn MUST be included in this submission in some way. The Legendary itself doesn't need to be physically present [although it can be], but it must have a presence in the piece regardless - portraying the shine a la Pokemon 2000 style is a good way to do this without physically including the legendary, but again, users are encouraged to get creative with it!

[ REWARDS ]

The rewards outlined below are the rewards you will receive for completing the questline! They are not inclusive of the general rewards you will receive for each objective completed:

  • Base Rewards
