[ INTRODUCTION ]

While evolution is important to pokemon across the board, it is perhaps even more so to Primordial Beasts. Evolution means getting stronger and getting stronger means survival. For beasts, it’s often a much more natural occurrence that comes with their instincts. That isn’t to say that individual beasts can’t have their own preferences, such as which path they take down an evolutionary branch, but for the most part, it’s something that simply happens as they grow through life without too much thought put into it. For those who exist under the care of other Pokemon, evolution can be sped up - or stunted - depending on the caretaker’s desires and needs. Companions should still be treated with love and respect as with every living being regardless of stage or abilities, however, and evolution can be a big part of their health and well being that caretakers are responsible for!

[ OBJECTIVES ]

This questline is the equivalent of Evolutionary Measures, except for Companions instead! As a result, the same information is used, but the objectives are geared toward Primordial Beasts instead. This quest requires users to complete at least two submissions. For each submission, you may choose one objective from the list below. No objectives should be repeated for a single evolution but can be repeated for a subsequent evolution quest (i.e. if you picked #1 and #3 for a Pichu to evolve into a Pikachu, you can use the same two objectives to evolve the same Pikachu into a Raichu, but they must be clearly different depictions– don’t use the same exact setting/poses/characters/etc!). If you are completing the questline for the sake of mega evolution, three objectives are required.

Objective 1
The exact moment in which a Pokemon evolves can be a spectacular event or an entirely nondescript occurrence depending on the circumstances. Depict the moment of your companion’s evolution! This can happen through different means depending on the species. Are they protecting their owner from harm against a fierce foe? Was there a defining instance where trust was established for the first time and led to a friendship-based evolution? Did your character present them with an evolutionary stone of their choosing, or did the beast want to decide? Or… was their evolution something that was forced upon them when they weren’t quite ready?

Objective 2
Spending time with Pokemon of the same evolution line can help teach a primordial beast how others of their species behaves. Show your companion with another Pokemon of its evolutionary line! This can be a moment in their past with their family/pack or in the present while meeting another character’s Pokemon who happens to be the same species. They can be playing together, having a friendly (or not-so-friendly…) brawl, or just cuddling together for an afternoon nap.

Objective 3
Most Pokemon, regardless of the method used, should undergo sufficient training before putting their body (and mind) through such a tumultuous change. Show your character training with their companion! Training can come in all forms: running up a hill, practicing various moves, working on their resistances- even a fun game of fetch or simply meditating together is worthwhile!

[ REWARDS ]

The rewards outlined below are the rewards you will receive for completing the questline! They are not inclusive of the general rewards you will receive for each objective completed:

  • Base Rewards
    • 25 Radiance [per completed objective]
    • 100 Experience for the participating character [per completed objective]
    • Progression to the participating character's next evolutionary stage
  • Bonus Rewards
    • N/A

Prompt: [QL-005] Days Gone By
Difficulty: ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆
Prerequisites: None
Participation: Once per character
Applicable Characters: Companions
Reward: Companion Age-Up

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

[ INTRODUCTION ]

Everyone and everything ages and Primordial Beasts are no exception. While they tend to mature much faster than their more intelligent counterparts, this is an evolutionary benefit maintained from back when Pokemonkind served as partners and allies for humans - for the faster they reached their potential, the better they could do for themselves and others. These days, the speed at which Primordial Beasts reach adulthood means the difference between not just survival for the beast in question, but the survival of their species in general. These creatures are the constant targets of poaching from sentient Pokemon as well as food for beasts that are much larger and stronger than they are. Just like evolution, the size and strength that comes with maturity are aspects of a Primordial Beasts overall life cycle that is beneficial to their survival.

[ OBJECTIVES ]

Companions in Glowchus have ages! There's no need to age up your pets unless you're either developing the character through the questline or, alternatively, breeding them [as only adult companions can be bred]. There are two ages for companions - Hatchling [companions start at this age] and adult. To avoid confusion/complexity, especially because different companions require different amount of art pieces to be fully "grown up", there are no middle life stages. The amount of questline submissions needed to grow your companion depends on the class:

  • Class 0: 1 submission
  • Class 1: 2 submissions
  • Class 2: 3 submissions
  • Class 3: 4 submissions
  • Class 4: 5 submissions

What this essentially means is the higher the class, the longer/more difficult the aging process. As stated previously, the main reason users will want to grow their companions is for the sake of breeding. Aging them up unlocks the ability to do so! Once reaching adulthood, a single pet can be bred up to 5 times [or once per 20 levels] before they become no longer breedable [although the use of items can always bypass this rule]! Completing an additional objective from the selection below on top of the number required will qualify your companion not only for their age up, but also evolution into their next evolutionary stage [this does not apply if their next stage is the mega stage].

Objective 1
In the world of Primordial Beasts, it's survival of the fittest and, try as they might, not even the best of breeders could ever hope to fully stomp out a beast's innate instincts. Depict your companion learning techniques for survival - this can be anything from learning from a parent or another beast, their owner, or just plain experiencing the oftentimes harsh realities of Primordial Beast life on their own - especially if they used to be wild - experience is one of the best teachers, after all.

Objective 2
Experience is an invaluable asset, not just for sentient Pokemon, but for beasts as well. After all, no one is born knowing what they need to do to survive or nor with the tactics necessary to make their way successfully through life. Lukily though, Primordial Beasts have one thing on their side - instinct. And despite a lack of experience when it comes to younger beasts, instinct alone can often get them out of a tricky situation. Depict your Primordial Beast getting into a bad situation. What happened? Were they able to get out of the situation themselves? Or did they need help from their owner/another beast?

Objective 3
Uh oh! Your companion seems to be a little under the weather today! Are they coming down with something? Did they injure themselves during a particularly rough bought of play? Falling ill from time to time is an unfortunate fact of life, and most times it's nothing to worry about. But it's always better to be safe than sorry. Depict your companion on the road to recovery, whether that means on a trip to the vet or just having a day of good ol' r & r.

Objective 4
Very lucky is the beast who goes through their whole life without concern for conflict with another beast. Most of them, however, are not so lucky. Depict a time where your companion got into a confrontation with a character, companion, or a wild Primordial Beast. How did they deal with it? Did they fight? Flee? Were they able to get away unscathed? Or do they have scars that server as a permanent reminder of said confrontation?

Objective 5
Everyone is scared of something, and beasts are no exception. What is your companion afraid of? Depict them in a situation where they're forced to face those fears. How do they react? Do they do so bravely? Or do they run and hide?

Objective 6
It's important for companions to get proper socialization during their early stages of development, especially when it comes to the higher classes, as instincts run high and without the proper socialization, primordial beasts [carnivorous ones especially] can turn out to be a danger, not just to other companions, but other characters as well! Depict your companion being introduced to or spending time with a character or companion they aren't familiar with.

Objective 7
While tamed primordial beasts generally don't need to worry about whether or not they'll have enough food to sustain themselves throughout their lives, learning to hunt or otherwise feed themselves is an integral part of Primordial Beast development. Depict your companion learning this invaluable technique for themselves. Do they learn by watching members of their own species? Or do they learn by trial and error? Error can be a huge risk, especially for herbivorous beasts, as risking a taste of unknown plants can easily result in sickness or even death.

Objective 8
Establishing a place to call home is another integral aspect to the growth and development of a Primordial Beast. For wild beasts, this often means seeking out a place of refuge where they can feel safe and secure, such as a cave or similar such shelter. For tamed beasts, however, this can be the back yard of their owner's house, a small shelter set up just for them, or even just a cozy bed nestled in the corner of their owner's bedroom. Depict the area that your companion considers to be their "home" or "territory." Alternatively, you can depict the companion establishing [if one wasn't provided for them] or patrolling said territory.

[ REWARDS ]

The rewards outlined below are the rewards you will receive for completing the questline! They are not inclusive of the general rewards you will receive for each objective completed:
