Personality: Despite Dev’s shy and quiet nature, this amateur archeologist is bursting with curiosity and has a very rose-tinted view of the world. They always assume the best of everyone, regardless of if those in question deserve that benefit of the doubt, and often doesn’t realise when others are trying to irritate or manipulate them.
When you get this ‘Chu to talking they can often accidentally annoy others with being overly cryptic; Dev loves a good mystery and thinks the world needs more of them, so they enjoy treating even mundane things like fascinating secrets. If someone spoke this way to them, with Dev’s trusting and inquisitive nature they would be fascinated to learn more, but for many Dev’s attempts to add more mystery to the everyday is just confusing and unnecessarily difficult. These frequent miscommunications, combined with a deeply carried belief of incompetence and guilt, contribute to the apprehensive nature that often dampens their curiosity.
Despite often approaching situations in a timid way, Dev is a loyal friend who will dive into any danger with far less hesitation if someone they care for needs them. They’ll probably be screaming the whole time, though.


History: Even for a resident of Ablies, Dev’s mother Kyna was especially secluded. As a scholar with a keen intellect and great fear of the outside world after losing her adventurous partner to a primordial beast, she spoke to Dev of all the wonders of the world but forbade them from exploring it themselves, hardly ever letting them out of the great carved halls of their home.

While Dev’s childhood was spent in relative solitude it was not an unhappy one, exploring each nook and crevice of their intricate home and learning of all the superstitions in the town either from Kyna or through well meaning eavesdropping when they would sneak out. They dreamt of one day becoming an archaeologist and one day discovering all the secrets and lore the past had to offer, writing the kinds of literature their mother dedicated her life to, but had the terrors of the outside world drilled into them in response to their inquisitive nature and thoughts of leaving not just their home, but Ablies as a whole. While the thought of Dev leaving their home petrified Kyna, she taught the young pichu to defend themself early, knowing she would not be around to protect them forever.
 
Neither of them realised how quickly that day would come.
 
When Dev was only 10, Kyna fell gravely ill. She refused to see anyone but her child, and while Dev did everything in their power, there is only so much a pichu can do. She left to them her companion; an omanyte called Onie-Anne, who Dev dotes on. 
It took years for Dev to work up the courage to leave home; apprehension towards the world outside, fear of losing what the empty halls held of their mother, and crippling guilt over what happened and leaving despite the fear she once held for them battling against Dev’s desire to see everything, learn everything, and the fact that other than their companion beast there was nothing left in this town for them. Now Dev is setting out into the world to build a new life, find a community for the first time and achieve their dream of becoming an archeologist.
 
Moveset
Ground Type Icon Scorching Sands - The user throws scorching sand at the target to attack. This may also leave the target with a burn.
Volt Switch - After making its attack, the user rushes back to switch places with a party Pokémon in waiting.
Aura Sphere - The user lets loose a pulse of aura power from deep within its body at the target. This attack never misses.
Ground Type Icon  Bone Rush - The user attacks by striking the target with a hard bone. This move hits two to five times in a row.
 
Fun facts:
- Dev refuses to elaborate on what their name is short for, and gives a different answer each time they are asked. Some favorite elongated forms are Devine, Devil, Deviant, Devotion, and Devastation.
- They keep a sketchbook/diary filled with drawings of and writing about all the places they’ve been, documenting every part of their adventure!
- Dev doesn’t know how to swim, but is enchanted by the water and what might hide underneath.
-Before Dev came out, they were a junior. Guilt over taking away that bit of their father still left in the world is why Dev simply goes by the nickname and makes up what it's short for rather than letting themself pick a name that's just for them.
