「History」
Aspen was the third born from Flurry and Whistle. Born female and going by the name of Vesta, he struggled for many years with his identity. This inner struggle and his innate bold personality was a recipe for a kid who stood up for himself and spoke his mind. 

He spent the most time with his father as Weiss would constantly demand attention from Whistle. However, there were times where Vesta would sneak some time in with Whistle. Flurry and Whistle were part of the handful of chus who knew of his fungi and plant collection and would often bring back little souvenirs for his collection.

As a young teenage female Pikachu, “Vesta” tried his best to “play his part” and be the best teen girl he could be. He tried to stay on top of the social ladder as well as took care of his appearance. Others seemed less than pleased when he dared to try and help them by “criticizing” their appearance or social status. This gave “Vesta” a reputation of being a mean girl and a bully. Wish and Lupe being some of Aspen’s victims.

One day, one of his bullying victims decided to retaliate back and let Aspen know how they felt. This shocked her as he was only trying to help their social life. Aspen walked away from that conversation and hid in a secluded location to cry. Lupe happened to be passing by and stopped to comfort Aspen. This kind act somewhat shocked Aspen knowing that Lupe had been on the receiving end of his criticism. He opened up to Lupe about why he did and said the things he did. This let Lupe see a different side of Aspen and the two grew closer for it, becoming friends.

Through Lupe Aspen learned of Damen’s camp and one day he snuck over there after education hours due to curiosity. There, he spotted a lone younger chu out on the outskirts sitting on a rock. He approached loudly to see what the young chu was up to. (Who didn’t seem too appreciative of Aspen’s intrusion.) Aspen was his usual bold self and asked the chu what his name was, what he was doing, etc. The other chu did not really respond outside of muttering his name. “Spud”. Aspen eventually left with the excuse of Spud ‘being a bore’ but in reality Aspen was in awe and his heart was beating fast. He was confused about the emotions he was feeling. Once home, he attempted to replicate what the young artist was doing but got frustrated, crumbling every drawing he attempted. He went back to that spot the next day and sat next to Spud and started talking about how he didn’t understand how he could draw like that. This then became a frequent occurrence, he would go over there and either sit up in the nearby tree or on the rock next to Spud. Spud didn’t speak much but he seemed to mind less and less that Aspen came around. 

However, as Aspen hit his mid-teen years, the gender dysphoria took a nasty turn. He started being extra mean to those who differ from the ‘norm’. One day he went over to hangout with Spud and saw Spud drawing two male chus together to which Aspen started being mean about Spud’s bisexuality. Despite  being quiet, did not like this at all and stood up for himself. Aspen went home that night gutted but figured he'd just apologize the next day and things would go back to how they were but the next day Spud wasn’t at his usual spot. A couple more days went by and Aspen’s guilt and remorse grew, this also made him finally sit with his feelings towards Spud as well as his gender dysphoria and face them.

He poured his feelings into a song lyric and handed it to Lupe to pass to Spud. Even though Spud doesn’t really say anything to Aspen after this moment. However, he starts showing up in his usual spot again and when Aspen arrives, Spud waves to him. When Aspen attempts to apologize directly, Spud kinda waves him off as his way to tell Aspen he’s forgiven. Spud also becomes a bit more vocal and actually answers Aspen’s questions with short replies.

The two grew closer and Spud helped Aspen come to terms with his gender. Aspen started transitioning to male roughly a year after shortly after coming out to his parents. At first he was worried they wouldn’t understand but Flurry and Whistle were more than supportive and understanding of his decision.
